June 16th Was the Big Day....Palate Repair

I know it has been a while, but this whole thing going on in my mouth has me a bit out there! There was so much going on and still so much going on. I might have to have Mommy take over, but I will let you know what happened.

Well they fixed my mouth, but I don't know if I am happy about this or what yet. I have been playing with my tongue a bit more and I can do this new thing, Mommy calls it suction. I can close my mouth and I pull my upper lip down and tighten up my mouth. Mommy thinks she knows what I am doing, Daddy says I am playing with my tongue, but I am just trying to figure all this new stuff out.

So I go in for this surgery, same routine, you know been there done that, but afterwards was very different. I didn't see, but Mommy said I had a lot of blood and stuff coming out of my nose and my mouth because of the surgery. She said she was very upset. I was in a lot of pain and they kept giving me medicine. I didn't have to go to the special room for extra care, they were able to send me to a regular room so that was good and Mommy was happy that we were going to have a bigger room. Titi Chell was with us and she spent the night also, with Mommy and Daddy.

It was a rough night and a rough few days. I had to spend extra time at the hospital because the whole eating and drinking thing wasn't working. Come on people my mouth HURT do you seriously expect me to put anything else in there. It is all swollen and stuff. Well we finally got the eating under control and some drinking and they let us go home.

Hey check this out, the first time I came home from the hospital after I was born was the day before Father's Day and I came home this year two days before Father's Day to be with Daddy. Mommy said it is something called, ironic....not sure what that means but at least we were in our house on Father's Day!


When we got home I still had some trouble drinking, eating is okay but I really don't like these cup things and I am not a fan of the milk not in my bottle. I can't use the bo-bo anymore. Mommy was worried about me dehydrating and she took me to my pediatrician and they were okay as long as I have 4 pee pee diapers in a day. Look, I don't count them. Mommy does and we haven't ended up in the hospital so I guess I am okay. I still don't like drinking and Mommy and Daddy FORCE me to, but they say I need to do it. So a little bit here and there, they chance me around with a sippy cup and squeeze it to quirt in my mouth LOL Oh it is funny, though I get really mad and fuss and swing at the cup. But whatever, they don't know what is going on in my mouth I DO!!!!

Oh and check it out, they confirmed that I have some hearing loss so I need some new hardware. I am getting these things called hearing aides. Here is a picture.

They are supposed to help me out with hearing low tones and help me learning new words to say. I don't need them all the time, I'm not deaf, I am what they say is hard of hearing. I am also going to have a teacher that is going to help Mommy and Daddy teach me new words. She is from some program called Early Intervention. I hope she is nice because I meet new people all the time and most of them are okay. Mommy said she is coming to meet us next Tuesday.

Well after I was home for a while and the doctor said it was okay we went to NJ and saw Pop-Pop, Nino, Lauren, Uncle Joey and got to meet my Titi Kenia and my other cousins. That was fun, but Mommy and Daddy took off to a wedding. She said my Titi Lily was getting married and I was not happy! Come on, you leave me with NEW people in a NEW house I was upset. I saw Mommy she got upset when they left, but then Titi Kenia gave me a bath and I fell asleep for a bit. It wasn't THAT BAD......

Well I still don't like the drinking thing, but whatever, I'll do what I have to do. They MAKE me drink anyway!! Mommy says I am getting my personality back. Oh but I discovered this thing called a "temper tantrum" at least that is what Mommy calls them. Listen, from time to time I need to get out my frustration. NOBODY understands me. My mouth is all funny and new. I want to see EVERYTHING that is going on from a top view (which means pick me up or have me on the counter - Mommy doesn't think that is safe) and I don't have much patience right now.

I have been through A LOT so cut me some slack. Though I got Mommy really mad yesterday so I think I may have to not be so fussy....because she got mad and LOUD and I did not like that. She told me she didn't like it either so maybe her and I need to come to an agreement....I don't know I am only one...do I really need to negotiate on these things right now???? Hmmmmm....

Well off I go. I am with the new baby sitter, she seems cool and there are other kids in the house to play with, but I am not a big fan right now. We'll have to see how it all goes down....

Mommy got home from work she brought me some balloons that were awesome! They were so big and shiny and just cool. There were a bunch of smilie faces all over them. And then Mommy let me open the present Auntie Marion (she is Mommy's friend from work) got me. That was cool! It was a puzzle with these pictures of ships and boats and airplanes. And I got a card from Nana Diane (that is Mommy's friend Tracey (my Auntie Tracey), yeah her mommy. Oh easier to explain that is my boy Connor's Nana too)

And then Daddy brought out the coolest thing it looks like a motorcycle and a bike, Mommy calls it a four wheeler. Mommy and Daddy got it for me for my birthday! Oh I like it so much! There are these buttons that play music and a horn that beeps! I just kept smiling and smiling when I was sitting on it. I had a little trouble getting on and off, but I kind of figured it out. I still haven't figured out how to push myself though....I am still working on it. LOL I just turned one people come on. HAHAHA! Well Daddy put my feet up on the front two wheels while I was sitting down now THAT was AWESOME! He pushed me all around the house!

Then we had dinner and went out for ice cream!!!! Ohhhh I love ice cream!! We went to Dairy Queen this time and I got a vanilla cone, but I prefer the spoon and cup so Daddy was giving me some ice cream ohhhh yeah baby that was good. Mommy thought I was having too much so didn't let me have it all. But it was okay, the little I had was enough sugar rush for me!!! LOL I was laughing and dancing and trying to get on the table. LOL Daddy thought I had lost it. It was my birthday! What do you expect.

I am ONE today!!!!

Mommy said we were going to have a surprise after she gets home from work. I wonder what it is!! I know we had a party this weekend with cake...which was more for my family than me. Because after the icing I was done. LOL But it is okay. I wonder what we are going to do!!! I will let you know tomorrow.

Wow so much going on. My cousin JoJo turned one on May 30th. My boy Connor from NJ is going to be one, exactly one month from today!!

And I am going to get my palate fixed next week. Busy Busy Busy!!!

Myrtle Beach Birthday Weekend!

Okay, so it was my birthday weekend and Mommy and Daddy decided that we would go to Myrtle Beach. They said I would like it and boy did I! It was awesome, the pool and the beach and the sun and sand. Even the place we stayed was really cool. There was a place to go outside. Mommy called it a balcony, but it was screened in. So they left the door open and I could go outside and come inside all by myself! You guys know how much I love to go outside and I can't do that at home. Mommy always says, I need to put on my shoes and I need help to go outside because there is a step. BUT NOT HERE!!! Oh it was so cool. So much FREEDOM!


But let me tell you how it all started. So....Mommy forgot the directions. I know. I mean she was putting a lot of stuff together and she forgot. So from the start they had me working. Check it out, I had to use my cell phone to get the directions on the GPS. They were already making me work hard...

Once we got to the hotel, they thought I was going to stay asleep. I mean Mommy set up my pack 'n play and laid me down to change my diaper and put on my pjs, but come on people you know me better than that. It was party time, I needed to check out this new place! So I started exploring and looking through everything. It was way past my bedtime and Mommy and Daddy let me stay up for a little bit, but then they MADE me go to sleep. They said I needed my energy for the pool tomorrow. So with some fighting I decided MYSELF that I should go to sleep.

The next day I got up bright and early and was hanging with Mommy on the balcony. It was so nice out there and it was warm. I also went into Titi Chell and Titi Janette's room and woke them up!

After breakfast Mommy got me ready and started putting that thick sticky stuff on me that is supposed to protect me from the sun. It wasn't so bad. Then we went to the pool. Oh it was fun. I was splashing with Mommy and Daddy and saw some other kids. And then they put me in this floating thing that was pretty cool, but I didn't want to stay in there too long and then they tried this life jacket suit thing. Okay, WHO INVENTED THAT? First off, I was already wet, so it was a pain putting on. Then they get it on, put me in the water and I have NO CONTROL over my body. What is that about?! I am flipping and flopping. Yeah, Daddy didn't like it either so we just took it off AGAIN and put my bathing suit on AGAIN and everyone just swam around with me. That was awesome!

It was a long morning and you know I can't miss anything so I didn't want to sleep! I mean Mommy gave me lunch and my bottle and then set up a bed for me, but no I wanted to be up, even though I was kind of like a zombie. So they decided to take me back to the room make me comfortable and put me to sleep. Check it out, I was knocked out for like 3 hours!

And little did I know when I was sleeping my family put a party together for me!!! They made me a cake and there were balloons and everything! It was very cool! And since we didn't have all of the family with us, Mommy put the names of my cousins and Pop-Pop and Abuela and Abuela on the balloons! And they put them at the table like they were sitting there with us. So all of my family was with me. You can see all of the pictures on line. Mommy said she would put them on Photobucket again.

LOL oh and then we went to some place called Broadway at the beach and were walking around and went to some place called Senor Frog, oh they make the silliest hats there and everyone got one! Me, not such a fan of the hats, but it was funny watching everyone else wear them. LOL

Oh this is just me profiling on a dinosaur at Broadway at the Beach. Mommy LOVES this pictue. LOL

The next day we went to the beach and this is the most awesomest place EVER! Oh Mommy says I am my father's son, whatever that means, but I LOVE THE SAND AND THE WATER AND EVERYTHING!!! Daddy and I were sitting in the sand playing with the water and these things called waves were splashing on me. Mommy was there with us and playing too and I was sitting with her, while Daddy was jumping in the big waves. He is so silly sometimes! It was awesome. Here check out some pics!

After the beach we went for some pizza and then went home...it was nice to be home...

Bunch of Stuff Goin' On! Check Out My Mechanic Skills

Well check out these pics. Daddy said he was having some trouble with the truck so I decided to take a look and see what I could do.

Everything looked good under there.....

That bolt was tightened properly..... I couldn't figure it out, but I did get dirty!! Mommy said I looked "Grubby" LOL

Oh check this out, Daddy and I are always playing with his hats and he and Mommy bought me like 3 of them. So I take Daddy's hat and put it on him and take it off, then he puts it on me and I take it off. I know, it is silly, but I am spending time with my Daddy playing around. Check out what I did with the penguin!!! Oh Mommy laughed so hard and so did I when I got it on!!!

Okay now, let's get down to business. We went to UNC yesterday to get ready for my surgery. They are going to fix the top part of my mouth, it is called a palate. Oh and Mommy is not taking me to my regular pediatrician until I am 13 months. Something about more shots and me getting sick or having a reaction before surgery. Mommy said she doesn't want to risk it.

So here are my stats from UNC:

21lbs 6oz (Mommy thought I was weighing more) and 28 inches

Okay now listen to this.....supposedly I may need hearing aids....I know, I know right, it is crazy. One thing after another, but they were testing me AGAIN and they say I am having a hard time responding to low tones. Mommy got a bit upset, but I was hanging out playing with Michelle the assistant when she and Miss Sara were talking. So next step is they are going to do a more scientific test where they play clicks in my ear while I'm asleep and see how my brain reacts. Then they will really be able to know if I am just not paying attention and want to play with the toys or if I need a little help. Only I know...and I am not telling you because I think this test will be cool and I want to find out what they see. I mean the test that they do now is some sound and some flashing lights. It gets kind of old after a while, but we will see. I know it is a little selfish and Mommy is a little worried, but she said, likes she always says, "We will deal with it and get through it!" And then Dr. Rose the guy that is also putting tubes in my ears, I know! I know! he said that they will test after the tubes go in because sometimes that helps and if I still need the hearing aids then I will mostly need them when I am in school. I heard him say to Mommy that when I get big, it will be my choice because the hearing issue is not that big. I hear really well for some range, which is what matters, he said.

So, that test is going to happen when they do my palate repair.

So June 16th is the big day and everyones' prayers help so keep it coming! Ohh and Pop Pop and Titi Chell are going to be here with me.

Now only if they could stop trying to get me to drink from that sippy cup, things will be great. I like the regular cup people, not those things with the spout. Bottle or regular cup, there is no negotiation on this one. Got it?!
